C, THIRD NOTE OF THE SCALE / YELLOW, THIRD COLOUR OF THE RAINBOW / WEDNESDAY, THIRD DAY OF THE WEEK / DAY OF MERCURY / MANIPURANA, THIRD CHAKRA / THE SCENE : CHICAGO 1972 / CAMDEN TOWN 1981

C is for Curtis (Mayfield), the sharpest dresser in yellow. C is for Chicago, his city. 1972, a time when it seemed that Curtis’ music and Chicago sounds could make the world a better place (see Donny Hathaway playing with kids). C is for Camden Town, where Sean saw Curtis play in ‘81. From there the story can unfold, with (whom else?) Mercury as our messenger. So, all yellow cabs and school buses, city trains and Mercury cars are certified Chicago ’72, and you won’t be surprised to see the Yellow Submarine along Camden’s canals. Odin approves (it’s his day after all) and so does Wednesday Addams. There’s a fever, or a peril, in the air - both yellow, of course, like Judy’s brick road and Ella’s basket. From Curtis’ soul a myriad of shiny yellow stars are escaping to brighten up our afternoon (one with a much darker memory), as Sean sings ‘Curtis in the sun reaches everyone…’
